Version history

The story of Deity so far, newest first. The game updates itself, so you always play the latest version.

Version 1.52

Spreading blight and smoother effects

  • Blight now spreads much further and runs its full course.
  • Effects follow your quality setting, so big moments run smoother on lower settings.
  • Revelation is a little smaller on big maps.

Version 1.50

Bigger disasters on bigger maps

  • The greatest powers now grow with the size of the world.
  • Buildings caught at the centre of a disaster are destroyed and leave rubble behind.
  • The sky darkens and the ground shakes wherever you are when one lands.

Version 1.49

Roads and smarter people

  • Build roads to move your people and armies faster. Rough ground slows them down.
  • Paths your people walk often wear into tracks.
  • Armies fed by a road fight on for longer, and win fights to earn rank.

Version 1.48

Cheaper works, more builders

  • Public works cost half as much and get twice the builders.
  • Rival gods now save up for a great work of their own.

Version 1.47

Public works

  • Your people can now build great works with their own hands, from a granary to a wonder.
  • Set how hard they labour, and a shield you can raise over your land.
  • Sound now works on iPad.

Version 1.46

Relics

  • Ancient relics wait to be claimed in each world. Hold one when you win to make your powers stronger.
  • A guardian protects the relics in the later acts.

Version 1.45

Disasters that hit harder

  • The greatest powers reach further and do more damage.
  • Rival gods are better at choosing where to strike.

Version 1.44

Matches to a hard finish

  • A lead now snowballs, so strong gods finish what they start.
  • Towns that lose many people take time to recover.
  • Towers now draw strikes, so they cannot be spammed.

Version 1.43

Bigger Bloom

  • Hold to grow a bigger Bloom.
  • Rival gods now clear swamps you leave behind.

Version 1.42

Half the people

  • Every building holds half the people, so powers hit harder and more matches end without the final blow.
  • Far-off sounds are quieter, and rivals now bring down towers that shoot at their people.

Version 1.41

Play on iPad

  • Full touch controls for tablets in landscape.
  • One finger acts, two fingers look around.

Version 1.40

Rivals strike armies

  • Rival gods now strike your armies while they march and gather, from the first act on.

Version 1.39

Awe and Revelation

  • Awe now also stops plague, and Revelation reaches further.
  • Rival gods cast both far more often.

Version 1.38

Deadlier plague, crows that raid crops

  • Plague now kills, and takes more care to stop.
  • Crows peck fields bare, and your people go hungry.

Version 1.37

Deadly ground

  • Earthquake and Upheaval now kill everything along their path.
  • The frame rate box now shows when watching two gods play.

Version 1.36

New words for the gods

  • New descriptions for all 24 gods, with new story cards and lines throughout the campaign.
  • Several scripted moments now come earlier and hit harder.

Version 1.35

Caster beacons

  • In three and four player games, a rival's attack now leaves a beam of light in their colour where it lands.

Version 1.34

Three and four player

  • Up to four gods online, with new maps built for three and four players.
  • Everyone fights everyone. The last god standing wins.

Version 1.33

Campaign events and story

  • Every god now has their own scripted moments that strike at the same time every game.
  • An opening card for each act, and a farewell or a boast when the match ends.

Version 1.32

Play with a friend

  • Invite a friend with a link and play online, with no sign-up.
  • Pick the world and the powers, or draft your powers in secret.
  • A dropped connection no longer ends the match.

Version 1.31

Tidy walls

  • Walls run in straight lines with square corners and towers, and join up neatly.

Version 1.30

A wider ladder of rivals

  • Rival gods are harder in each act, and Zeus has a new level of his own.
  • Storms are twice as wide.

Version 1.29

Armies that fight well

  • Marching armies pick the right targets and break ranks when they arrive.
  • Awe is twice as wide, and floods reach further.

Version 1.28

Rivals that plan

  • Rival gods now plan against your army instead of reacting one strike at a time.
  • A new playbook of 16 tactics, chosen to suit each god's personality.

Version 1.27

Reset graphics

  • A new button restarts the graphics if the picture ever goes wrong.
  • Several great powers can now be cast at once.

Version 1.26

Watch two gods play

  • A new panel names both gods and charts their followers as the match unfolds.
  • Speed up to ten times, and export the match to share.

Version 1.25

Rivals that press their lead

  • A leading god now attacks in waves, spots openings and builds armies from its towns.
  • Every rival now plays a little differently.

Version 1.24

A new mind for every rival

  • Every rival god now weighs growth against attack, picks a town it can beat and sizes its army to win.
  • Each of the 24 gods has its own personality.
  • In a last stand, a god that is nearly beaten fights with everything it has.

Version 1.22

Four levels of rival

  • Mortal, Hero, Titan and Olympian, one for each act. No level cheats.

Version 1.21

Lapis and gold

  • A new look for every menu and panel, in deep blue and gold.
  • A new title screen with the Deity wordmark.

Version 1.20

Ice, desert and volcanic worlds

  • Three new kinds of world, each with its own rules, weather and events.
  • Blizzards and avalanches on ice, sandstorms and wells in the desert, and lava rivers and eruptions on volcanic ground.
  • Six campaign worlds now use them.

Version 1.15

The mini map

  • A mini map in the top corner. Click it to move the camera.
  • Every campaign world was checked so that it matches its description.

Version 1.14

Smoother on every laptop

  • The game draws only what you can see.

Version 1.13

Endings and the Codex

  • A warning glows at the screen edge when a rival aims a great power at you.
  • A short final scene when a match ends, then a chart of how it went.
  • A Codex of every combination you have discovered, and records for each god.

Version 1.12

Feel and sound

  • Sound now comes from where it happens on screen.
  • Buildings grow with their own flourish, and new fields glint as they appear.
  • New comfort settings for volume, shake and flashes.

Version 1.11

Armies you can see and hear

  • Click to send your army where you want it.
  • War drums, dust, horns and supply carts bring armies to life.

Version 1.10

Armies

  • Form an army from your followers and march it on a rival.
  • Armies need feeding, so a big army slows your towns.

Version 1.8

A new way to win

  • A late power that turns the people of a god who is already losing.
  • Power points are easier to find and spend in the Pantheon.
